I first began sewing swimwear in 2016 while in college. Living in the mountains, creating swimwear was a way for me to look forward to warmer days. Within months of learning to sew, BB Swimmies was born. Learning everything via trial and error, I taught myself sewing, pattern making, photography, and all of the business skills necessary. For many years BB Swimmies was a passion project that I worked on part time.

In 2020 we had our first major year of sales. Sewing everything to order, keeping up with hundreds of handmade orders, shipping, stocking supplies, marketing…and more, no longer felt manageable. Especially in the midst of the pandemic. I was at my breaking point…

In the beginning of 2021 I began reaching out to manufacturers. Already a sustainable brand, it was crucial we found a manufacturer to partner with that shared our values, and helped further propel our growth. The whole of 2021, I spent developing our first manufactured collection, while still running the handmade side of BB Swimmies. Putting quality and fit over production times, we’ve gone through 3 rounds of samples, and took our time to perfect this first collection. Sustainably made with recycled fabrics. An ethical factory in Indonesia. Timeless pieces. Buttery soft and high quality. All of my custom designs. What a dream!
